Omar Al-BAshir
Childhood and Education: Al-Bashir was born in Hosh Bannaga, north of the capital, Khartoum. He received his primary education there, and his family later moved to Khartoum where he completed his secondary education. Omar belongs to a religious clan of Sudan and Egypt called Al-Bedairya Al-Dahmashya. Omar studied at a military college in Cairo,Egypt.
Rise to Power: Omar enrolled in a military academy in 1960 in Egypt. And graduated from another military academy in Khartoum in 1966. Omar rose through the army ranks quickly and fought on the Egyptian side in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. In 1975 Omar was appointed attaché in the United Arab Emirates. When he returned to Sudan he was the appointed as garrison commander . As a colonel in the Sudanese military,Bashir was well-positioned to lead a bloodless military coup against Sadiq al-Mahdi in 1989. In 1993 Omar made himself the president of Sudan.
As the President of Sudan: Omar has done terrible things as president of Sudan, but I first wanted to name the good things he has done for Sudan. Omar changed the currency of Sudan from the Sudanese Pound to the Sudanese Dinar. Omar has achieved economical growth within Sudan because of oil trade between Sudan,China and Russia. As well as good things Omar has done many bad things as president. Omar is accused of committing crimes against humanity like genocide, and war crimes in Darfur. The U.N have tried to arrest the dictator, but there is an insufficient amount of evidence. He has started two civil wars in Sudan. Omar was "re-elected" as president in 2010 and is still the current president of Sudan.
